How to do it
- Root down through your standing foot — spread the toes.
- Place your other foot on your inner calf or thigh — never on the knee.
- Level your hips and press the foot and leg gently into each other.
- Grow tall through the crown of your head, hands at heart or overhead.
- Fix your gaze on one still point and breathe slowly.
Common mistakes
- Foot braced on the knee. Pressing into the side of the knee joint loads it sideways — the one place the foot shouldn't go.
- Hip jutting out. Letting the standing hip swing wide takes the core and glutes out of the balance.
- Wandering eyes. Balance follows the gaze — scanning the room is why the wobbles win.
